Llangattock Quarries walk- history, industrial and natural

A fine walk high above the Usk Valley along the old quarry tramways and into Craig y Cilau National Nature Reserve.  Panoramic views of the Black Mountains.  The optional extension offers exploration of the glacial hanging valley of Cwm Onneu Fach and the ecologically important raised bog at Waun Ddu.

Walk information: 

Grade: Moderate (not suitable for pushchairs)

Walk: 5 1/2 km/ 3 1/2 miles plus optional 1 1/2km (1mile) extension

Ascent: 230m (750ft) plus 50m (170ft) for optional extension

Time: 2 1/2 hours (3 hours with extension)

Terrain: Grassy paths, some uneven; steep sections; can be muddy. No stiles, suitable for dogs on a lead, sheep grazing throughout the walk.
