The Old Barn
The Old Barn is at the far end of the farmyard. It’s the last building on the footpath before the top of Sugar Loaf.
It is a traditional Welsh barn, with arrow-slit windows, and triangular holes to let barn owls into the building to keep the mice out.
We have kept all the original features, and added modern comforts and conveniences.
We’ve used traditional Welsh slate, oak and lime and sheep’s wool insulation, allowing the building to breathe, and an air source heat pump runs the underfloor heating. There is even custom-built accommodation for the bats and swallows……
Inside, the barn is a stylish mix of old and new, with contemporary furniture and lighting alongside traditional oak timbers and antiques. The ground floor is a spacious open-pan space with superbly equipped kitchen, large dining table and comfy seating around the woodburner.  There’s also a utility room with washing machine.
A twin and double bedrooms are up the cast iron spiral staircase, along with a family bathroom.  The second double bedroom has its own entrance from the courtyard and has an ensuite wetroom.
All the bedrooms and the living room have wonderful views up to Sugar Loaf
To the north is a patio with views up the hill and to the south a courtyard with views west over the valley to the ancient woodland on Deri.

Ty Gwyn
Ty Gwyn is at the entrance to the farmyard. It was built in 1970 to provide all the mod cons the 16th century farmhouse lacked.
The house is light and bright, with south-facing windows in most of the rooms to take in the views down the valley to Abergavenny and its surrounding hills. Touches such as copper guttering and oak doors add distinction to its simple white exterior.
Inside, the clean modern lines of the rooms are enhanced by sparkling white walls, Welsh slate floors and golden oak doors. The mix of contemporary and vintage furniture and fittings combine 21st century style with a retro 1950s/60s twist.
Ty Gwyn has cosy underfloor heating powered by an air source heat pump.

The kitchen is brilliantly equipped and has a hatch through to the dining/living room, with oak table and cosy seating space in front of the woodburner.
Two of the bedrooms – a double and twin – are downstairs and share a family wetroom.  The third bedroom (double) is upstairs and has its own luxury bathroom with freestanding double ended bath.

The south facing enclosed garden has spectacular views down to Abergavenny and the hills beyond.
