Croeso y Penpont
Weaving people & place

A family run estate set on the banks of the River Usk in the heart of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, Mid Wales.
Penpont is an invitation to slow down and settle into a simpler way of life. Gather by fireside and feast together, glimpse kingfisher and otter, sink into cold water & wander beneath ancient trees and dark skies.

Stay in the Courtyard Wing

The 17th Century Courtyard Wing is a perfect place for gathering and reconnecting.
Its six bedrooms can sleep up to 14 people comfortably. A spacious, open-plan kitchen and dining room leads out onto a rustic courtyard shaded by a magnificent Catalpa tree.
Beyond lies the upper terrace, sweeping lawns, wild meadows, the Greenman maze, and acres of grounds to discover.

Or simply, pitch up next to the river.

The riverside and rose garden campsite at Penpont is how camping should be – there are no formal pitches, just pick your spot under the shade of the trees or by the river.
Hot showers and loos are close by, and outdoor fire pits available to gather beside at night. A stone’s throw from Pen-y-fan, Mynnydd Illtyd and Fan Frynych Nature Reserve, Penpont is a great base from which to explore the National Park.

“Penpont, thou wilderness of varied sweets,
Where Nature from her comely handmaid Art
Borrows new lustre, and in every part
The wond’ring eye some opening beauty meets!”
— Penpont, John Lloyd (1847)

Enjoy fresh produce from our Walled Garden

Penpont has been growing organic vegetables in the Walled Gardens for over 25 years, supplying our local community with a range of fresh veg, fruit and cut flowers through our farm shop on site.
Cwmsefin, our regenerative farm, is beginning to provide 100% pasture fed beef and lamb too, alongside honey, preserves and juices.

Explore magnificent grounds and wild woodlands

We launched the Penpont Project in 2019 with Action for Conservation, the first intergenerational nature recovery project of its kind.
Working across generations with our Youth Leadership Group, we are blending regenerative farming, nature conservation and continuous cover forestry to restore biodiversity and natural processes at Penpont, whilst developing an education programme for young people.
