Antiques

The best places in our region for vintage finds such as clocks, oak furniture and silverware include Llandeilo, Hay-on-Wye and Brecon.

If you're looking for something special, start by heading for Llandeilo. Here, you should take a look around The Works in Station Road, which houses over 55 antique dealers and is the largest antiques market in Southwest Wales. There are more antiques and interiors shops to browse nearby. Or you could try Hay-on-Wye's satisfyingly compact web of streets.

Furniture, paintings, ceramics and bric-a-brac are also sold at the antique shops, road side antique centres and regular markets you'll find scattered right across the region.

Auctions take place monthly on the outskirts of Brecon (contact McCartneys, tel 01874 622386) and fortnightly in Llandeilo (Michael Jones, 01558 823430).

Finally, The International Antiques Fair of Wales comes to The Royal Welsh Show Ground, just north of the Brecon Beacons, twice a year, in May and early September.
