Llanthony Priory & the Gospel Pass

The longest and toughest ride in the whole pack, this is a fantastic 2-day tour that makes a perfect introduction to the area for the more energetic visitor.
With so much to see plus an excellent selection of cycle-friendly accommodation in the area, why not take the plunge and make a real weekend of it?
It starts easily enough, following quiet roads and narrow lanes along the beautiful Usk Valley from Brecon to the historic town of Crickhowell. From here, it makes a determined detour into the very heart of the spectacular Black Mountains.
It’s not as hilly as you might imagine, the only real climb is a steady pull out of Crickhowell, that leads up through the magnificent Vale of Ewyas to the impressive, 542m, Gospel Pass. From there, it’s downhill into the Wye Valley for a pleasant cruise, on more quiet roads, back to Brecon.
