Penderyn Distillery produces award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits in the foothills on the magnificent Brecon Beacons in South Wales. One of the few remaining independent distilleries, Penderyn takes its name from the old Welsh village in which it is located. The Brecon Beacons National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty famed for its breath-taking scenery, open moorland, clear rivers and tumultuous waterfalls.  We produce small quantities of the finest malted barley spirit, which, when matured, is recognised worldwide as one of the smoothest malt whiskies.
Members of the public can enjoy a distillery tour, take a journey through the history of single malt whisky making in Wales, and explore the distilling process at first hand. On arrival you will be greeted by your tour guide and taken through to the exhibition area where you can browse at your leisure and learn for yourself the history of whisky making in Wales as well as more general Welsh history. Your guide will then take you out into the distillery itself, where you will see the mill, the mash tun, the washbacks and, finally, the stills themselves. Your guide will explain how Welsh whisky is produced, and you’ll see Penderyn’s two Faraday stills – designed by Dr. David Faraday, a descendant of famous physicist Sir Michael Faraday plus the new pot stills. Moving on to the barrel display area your guide will describe the various stages of the maturation process.
You will also learn about our other products – Merlyn Cream Liqueur, Brecon Five Vodka, Brecon Gin and Siddiqui Rums. Your tour will end in our tasting bar where you are entitled to taste two of our products, or, take a miniature bottle away with you.
You may then browse the gift shop at your leisure.
