Ever considered what’s above your head? Looked longingly into the night sky wondering what’s out there? Well Dark Sky Wales (DSW) may have the answers!
We are a team of professional educators who provide workshops designed to inspire and to encourage you to enjoy and explore the stars, our galaxy, the universe, astronomy and science.
We run off the shelf and tailor made experiences for people that have an interest in the sky above us. Dark Sky Wales are at the forefront of astro tourism in Wales.
Experience the night sky on an evenings adventure in the Brecon Beacons as DSW staff navigate you around the constellations, planets, nebulae and galaxies. Using telescopes to explore the moon and planets in detail and venture further into the depths of the universe. Take things a little further and image the night sky maybe capturing the death of a star or the birth of another planet. Nothing is impossible!
If you want to take things further then DSW can provide you with educational courses that can lead to further or higher education. The courses are hands-on allowing participants to become acquainted with the tools of the astronomers trade.
Important Update Regarding Warm Room
Our warm room is now operational!
We are now able to resume normal operations. Group Stargazing experiences will now NOT be susceptible to cancellation for inclement weather (cancellations will only take place if severe weather prevents travel to the observing location), and astronomical talks will be provided in the event of inclement weather.
We want to thank our customers for their patience during the construction of the building.
Astronomy Adventures
DSW provides bespoke astronomical tours for small groups and individuals throughout Wales. Each evening’s activity is tailored to your needs be that a tour of the heavens or astroimaging we can provide the expertise for you to enjoy some of the darkest skies in the UK.
Astronomy Education
DSW provide courses for the very beginner all the way through to the most experienced of astronomers. Each course is delivered by professional educators with many years experience teaching astronomy at University, Adult Education and schools.
Professional Services
DSW has vast experience working with local authorities, National Parks and other parties in the development of Dark Sky Discovery Sites, Parks and Reserves. From the Brecon Beacons to Anglesey and Pembrokeshire to Rhondda Cynon Taff DSW experts have assisted in the development of dark sky tourism by undertaking valuable dark sky surveys, astronomical events and training for staff.
