The Star Bunkhouse (‘Hostel or Bunkhouse of the Year’, The Great Outdoors Awards: Silver 2018, finalist 2021) in the village of Bwlch is an ideal base camp for exploring the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

You can expect a warm and comfortable stay in our family run, award-winning bunkhouse. We have spacious bedrooms (including an en-suite Family Room), a cosy lounge with books, magazines, maps & board games, free WiFi, fully-equipped self-catering kitchen, dining areas, wood burning stove, plenty of hot showers, drying room with washing machine, covered outside seating & BBQ area, secure bike storage & bike wash, and off road parking.

We can sleep up to 20 people in bunkbeds spread over 6 bedrooms. We offer private bedrooms suitable for individuals, couples & small groups, or exclusive hire for larger groups. We are also dog friendly by arrangement. As qualified Mountain Leaders, we can also provide guided walks for our guests if booked in advance (exclusive hire bookings only).

The bunkhouse is situated alongside the Beacons Way long-distance footpath in the gap (‘bwlch’) between the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons mountain range (which includes Pen Y Fan). We are across the road from the New Inn & Beacons Backpackers, a CAMRA pub popular with both locals & visitors, and well known for its excellent real ales, friendly atmosphere & great food (advance booking highly advised).

We look forward to meeting you soon!
