5 steps to enjoy the Brecon Beacons National Park after lockdown.
As lockdown has been eased in Wales we are expecting lots of visitors in the Brecon Beacons this weekend. Although we are looking forward to welcoming you back, we need you to follow these 5 steps to protect the beautiful landscape of the Brecon Beacons.
1. Know before you go
Make sure you know where you are going and what facilities are available. Be prepared to find some car parks, toilets, shops & other local amenities closed. Plan your trip well.
#BeAdventureSmart when out and about. Ask yourself these three questions –
– Do I have the right gear?
– Do I know what the Weather will be like?
– Do I have enough Knowledge and skills for the day?
During lockdown we have created a new Car parking dashboard so you can check the status of the car parks in Waterfall Country, as it gets very busy quickly.
2. If it feels too crowded, it is
Have a backup place to visit in mind. Have a look at our walking routes to choose somewhere new to explore.
The Brecon Beacons National Park covers 520 square miles, there is more to it than just Pen y Fan and Waterfall Country. This is your chance to find your new favourite place.
3. Respect, protect, enjoy
Always follow the Countryside Code Respect other people, Protect the natural environment and enjoy the outdoors. Always take your litter home, and keep dogs on leads.
4.Keep your distance
Make sure you keep 2m (that’s roughly 2 sheep) apart. Social distancing still applies in the mountains and along all trails. Sanitize your hands frequently & avoid touching gates, stiles etc.
5. Be Kind
Whilst we all adjust to this new normal.
