An ancient market town set in beautiful countryside.
It is highly cultured with castles and gardens all around - most obviously Dinefwr Castle right on the edge of town.
Nearby, Carreg Cennen must be the most spectacular castle in Wales, sitting atop heart-stopping cliffs with woodland walks and a great teashop. Aberglasney Gardens is a garden lost in time whilst the National Botanic Garden of Wales are just glorious.
Antiques, music, good food and high quality shops all add up to a very Welsh experience.

This spectacular ruined castle is perched on a high limestone crag 330 feet/100 metres above the river Cennen in the western area of the national park.
Carreg Cennen is a haunting, atmospheric place, a castle that appears to spring out of legend and fairytale.
Wildlife Walks Carreg Cennen
This route follows some of the path up to the castle then drops down into the valley below the castle. The slope is reasonably steep and can be slippery when wet. There are some narrow drains/culverts to cross. There are several gates to pass through, which leads onto a narrow lane back to the castle car park.
Situated in the west of the National Park, the scenery is striking, with lanes running through steep wooded valleys giving glimpses of the grandeur of Mynydd Myddfai and the Black Mountain.
Set in the pretty village of Myddfai, St Michael’s Church has been a centre of Christian worship for a thousand years.
Located in the remote western area of the Brecon Beacons National Park is the Red Kite Feeding Station at Llanddeusant. The site attracts over 50 Red Kites and Buzzards every day in a spectacular aerial display.
