Hay-on-Wye / Y Gelli

Welcome to 'The Town of Books'.

Hay is internationally famous for its second-hand bookshops (over 30), with over a million books for sale. In between book-browsing, high quality bistros and restaurants are there to delight you.

Explore a range of galleries, clothing and craft shops that offer original and unusual items, or explore the town's castle and fascinating history.

Hay-on-Wye is right on the edge of the Black Mountains with Offa's Dyke Path running through the town. It makes a great base for walkers or anyone wanting to use the Wye for canoeing or fishing.

You can take a stroll along the river or catch the Offa's Dyke Flyer bus to Hay Bluff to enjoy the spectacular, uninterrupted views.

More information about the area can be obtained from Hay-on-Wye's independent Tourist Information Bureau.
