What do we do?
The wardens service is split into two teams - the Eastern Area Team (which covers the eastern area of the park), and the Western Area Team (which covers the western area of the park).
The Warden Service is an integral part of the National Park service, operating both in the field and from the National Park offices in Brecon, Abergavenny and Llandovery. It helps to implement policies for conservation of the landscape and to facilitate enjoyment of the Park. Wardens work closely with specialist colleagues dealing with education, community development, conservation on farms, woodland management, access to the countryside and management of National Park Authority property. They are generally regarded as the front line contacts for National Park work.
In 1977 the National Park produced a handy pocket sized 'Wardens Handbook' which provided the wardens with vital information in carrying out their work. Although the role of the warden has changed slightly since the 1970's there are many items in the handbook that are still relevant today. Click here to view a copy of the handbook.
