I started working for the National Park in 1996 on a government funded scheme called TEAC (Training for Education Access and Conservation) for 12 months. In 1997-98 I supervised a small team working towards restoring some of the most badly eroded paths in the Beacons. From 1999-2004 I was employed as the groundsman at Craig y nos Country Park in the upper Swansea valley.
I live in Bronllys in the Eastern area of the National Park and my personal interests include travel, DIY and home renovation and meeting up with my mates. I follow closely the 'ups and downs' of the National rugby team! To keep fit I enjoy mountain walking, running, mountain biking, climbing and skiing.

Favourite walk

It would have to be the circular walk in the Caerfanell valley, past the remains of the bomber. Get the hard part of the walk out of the way first (Craig y Fan Ddu) then enjoy the views.

Favourite Mountain bike route

I’ve ridden the Taff Trail from Brecon to Cardiff on a number of occasions and it goes without saying that the section through the National Park is stunning, but my favourite route is up and over the Gap road (South to North). It makes you feel as if you are right in the heart of the mountains, then it’s a real bone shaker as you drop down into the Cwm Cynwyn valley.
