Eastern Area Manager
Area Covered: Eastern half of the National Park: Vaynor, Talybont, Llangynidr, Llangattock, Crickhowell, Llangors, Llanfihangel Cwmdu, Talgarth, Gwernyfed, Hay, Llanigon, Vale of Grwyne, Ll Crucorny, Grosmont, Ll Pertholey, Llanelly, Llanfoist Fawr, Brynmawr, Llanover, Goetre Fawr, Pontypool
Responsibilities: Management of the Eastern Area Team to implement Corporate Objectives approved by the National Park Authority, e.g.:
1. Working with partners & stakeholders to improve our services
2. Mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change
3. Instill principles of sustainable development and transport
4. Sustainable landscape-scale conservation management
5. Conservation strategy & implementation for ecological, cultural & historic environments
6. Improve countryside access through the Rights of Way Improvement Plan
9. Sustainable tourism to integrate visitor management & conservation with a particular focus on sustainable visitor transport
10. Embed best practice in communications, interpretation & education to promote awareness & understanding
Current landscape-scale conservation projects: Henallt Common, Govilon Line, Llangattock Beechwood and Hatterrall Hill
Additional responsibilities: Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS) Technical Adviser for the National Park Authority, Mountain First Aid Instructor and training colleagues to achieve their Mountain Leader and Walking Group Leader Awards.
