Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Report

The main purpose of an SA Report is improve the environmental performance of a plan by assessing whether it is likely to result in any significant environmental effects (positive or negative).

A Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Report has been carried out on the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority National Park Management Plan (NPMP) to meet recent regulations, as it has the potential to produce significant environmental effects. Recommendations as to how adverse effects can be avoided, offset or reduced, as well as how improvements have been made. A programme to monitor significant effects is required in order to check whether the SA Report has been accurate in its predictions.
