Wildlife and Environment

The first purpose of the National Park is to ensure that the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the protected landscape is conserved. As the local planning authority, the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority has an obligation to ensure that development is appropriate to the National Park and that it does not damage the special landscape and wildlife around us.

Important note:

All of the information contained on these pages is for guidance and information ONLY. For specific queries and when making planning applications, specialist planning and/or ecological advice should be taken. The need to obtain ecological surveys and the relevant licences required for some protected species should be identified early in the development process, ideally before the planning application is submitted. This will avoid unnecessary delays to the planning application.
