Preliminary options for Gilestone Farm
Brecon Beacons National Park Authority has today released its preliminary report into Gilestone Farm which is to be considered at a Planning Access and Rights of Way (PAROW) committee meeting on Tuesday 19th August.
The report details the serious issues facing the National Park Authority, the options available to the committee and also outlines the receipt of a fresh planning application from the owners of Gilestone Farm.
The report, written by Mr Martin Hooker – appointed as a ‘critical friend’ at the request of the Welsh Assembly Government – was produced after it was found that the planning application for Gilestone Farm had been critically mismanaged.
Among Mr Hooker’s options to resolve the issues surrounding Gilestone Farm are:
• Do nothing
• Attempt to enforce the current conditions on the planning consent
• Attempt to revise the conditions on the planning consent
• Attempt to secure the discontinuance of the Gilestone Caravan Park
• Allow a fresh application with new conditions and a Section 106 agreement to revoke the existing consent
Among its recommendations, the report also calls for a member site inspection prior to consideration of a further detailed report.
Chris Gledhill, Chief Executive for Brecon Beacons National Park Authority said: “I would like to commend Martin Hooker for delivering this very detailed preliminary report into Gilestone Farm. The report identifies the challenges we face as an Authority but its options and recommendations are crucial components in ensuring that Members collaborate to make the right decision.”
