Sailing

llangorse sailingLlangorse lake is as scenic a place for sailing as one could hope to find. The lake covers an area of 400 acres in an old glacial hollow between the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. You can launch your own boat or hire one at Llangorse Common (payment required) or head for  the Sailing club.  Visitors to the area from other clubs can join the club for a week while on holiday and get access to the lake and boat storage. The Club is an RYA Traing Centre  and runs a wide variety of sailing courses for beginners and improvers  and two very popular and successful annual Fun Days - for families and for people with disabilities.

You can also enjoy sailing with Merthyr Tydfil Sailing Club  in  wonderful mountain surroundings at Pontsticill Reservoir near Merthyr Tydfil. They sail on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons but check up before you go as the access can be a little tricky at the moment.

The club has recently benefitted from a Sports Wales grant to buy a 'RS Vision' 2/3 person training boat, which new members amy use to learn on with guidnace from club members.

If you are bringing your own boat to the National Park from an area elsewhere, please help us stop the spread of invasive species such as killer shrimps and zebra mussels by following the Check Clean and Dry routine with your boat and kit - thanks.
