How would you get help on a mountain, keep a casualty alive or make an emergency shelter? Find out all the answers and use your skills to build a bivouac to brave the Welsh weather!
Course description
This half day or summer evening course teaches the children about safety in upland areas and provides the opportunity to practise survival skills in fun, team building activities.
Main activity
Session A: In small teams children are challenged to use available resources to build a weatherproof shelter for the group. This is then tested by a well timed ‘Welsh downpour’.
Session B: The children transport water by traditional methods spilling as little as possible.
They then find food using the ‘hunter gatherer’ methods of early settlers in the area.
