Story sticks

Let your imagination run wild as you decorate your stick re-telling a journey. Share your story then take your creation home as a reminder of your adventures.

Course description:  This evening course enables children to use natural materials to re-tell their story of a journey and create a souvenir to take home. It is based on a traditional practice of  Native Americans.

Main Activity:  The children select their own stick from the woods and are taken on a walk around the woods and fields surrounding Danywenallt. Using wool and other natural materials they create a story stick as they go. On return to the centre, they share the story of their journey with others. This activity is very suitable for wet or dark evenings as it is possible to stay indoors and retell a journey from a previous outing.
