Eco trail

Follow an activity trail through the grounds. There are a variety of tasks from identifying mystery photographs to adding to our willow structure. A chance to discover how eco- friendly Danywenallt is and encourages you to think about your sustainable lifestyle.

Course description:

This course can be led by an Education Officer or self led by teachers. It is a half day or evening course is based around the Centre (designated a green flag Eco-centre) and develops the children’s awareness of their impact on the environment. Using a cross curricular approach, the children  answer  questions and engage in activities based on the environmental  actions taken by the Centre. These encourage them to think about their own environmental actions at home and school. 

Main Activity: In small groups, the children follow the Eco –Trail around the Centre grounds attempting to gain as many points as possible. Activities include identifying mystery photos, willow weaving, designing an eco-lunch, looking at a hydro-electric turbine as well as answering questions on water saving, transport, recycling and environmentally friendly shopping.

On completion of the Trail the children gather for a  plenary session.  There are many opportunities for further discussion of the issues raised.
