Glyn Tarell geotrail - directions
Way to go
From the car park cross the fence at the gate/stile, then walk in a south-western direction almost straight up-slope (not the path to the right of it), heading steeply towards the high buttress of Bryn Du.
2 & 3
Contour round towards the northern face of Fan Fawr until you meet the path (at map ref SO 974196) that leads to the summit of the mountain. Descend here for a few minutes until the slope on your left becomes a little less steep. Then leave the path, heading (carefully!) approximately north-west into Nant y Gerdinen.
4 & 5
Follow the path northwards along the edge of Craig y Fro, skirting the edge of Fforest Fawr’s remote Rhos Dringarth plateau, until you reach the spectacular cliffs and cwm of Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad.
6 & 7
Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad. The descent into the cwm is steep. The path here may be subject to route change. Please observe any local restrictions and follow the waymarked route.
Leave Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad by the layby on the A470. Cross the road and follow it south for a short distance until you reach the footpath on your left that drops into the Tarell valley, where the grassy byway leads back to Storey Arms.
