Brecon to Pencelli - directions
Way to go
From the interpretation board/bench next to the theatre, walk towards the water, keeping it on your left to drop down beneath the first bridge. Continue along on a narrow lane until, after another bridge, you go through a gate into a picnic area, with some ornate woodcarvings depicting the industrial heritage of the canal.
Continue and you’ll soon pass beneath the main road before passing Brynich Bridge to the first lock at Brynich, which is usually colourfully decorated with flowers. Cross the road and continue past a picnic area before crossing the Usk on the Brynich Aqueduct.
The next bridge carries you onto the other side of the canal. Follow it around a large loop, past the marina and beneath the road close to village of Llanfrynach.
The path and canal now swing back eastward. Continue past Pencelli Court and on towards the village of Pencelli, where you can catch the bus (X43 service) back from outside the Royal Oak public house.
