Accessing and enjoying Waterfall Country
A day in Waterfall Country will be a highlight of any visit to the Brecon Beacons.
The area provides a wealth of walks for visitors ranging from the easily accessible Sychryd All Ability Trail that starts at Carig y Ddinas car park in Pontneddfechan, to the more strenuous Four Falls Trail in the heart of Waterfall Country. For more information walking routes in the area you can visit the Waterfalls Centre at Pontneddfechan or you can contact the warden for the area by clicking here.
Please take great care around waterfalls as the spray can make paths and ledges slippery. Follow the waymarked paths at all times and wear walking boots with good grip. Don't be tempted to swim in the water - it can be cold and fast flowing. Even the strongest swimmers have been known to get into trouble.
Each of us has a part to play in looking after this stunning area. For the most of us the biggest contribution we can make is to:
- keep to footpaths
- take litter home with you
- use sustainable transport wherever possible
- avoid disturbance to plants and wildlife
- leave fallen wood alone and not cut trees for firewood
- take special care to avoid scraping off mosses and lichens
The National Park and Forestry Comission have been working hard to maintain and improve the footpaths of the area. You can read more about this here.
How to get there:
Car parking is available at:
Dinas Rock car park, Pontneddfechan. At Glyn-neath follow the signs on the B4242 for Pontneddfechan. Once in the village, the road forks next to the Craig-y-Dinas pub - take the road directly in front of you and not the road heading up the hill.
