Sgwd yr Eira Closure

Wales' best known waterfall, Sgwd yr Eira is to remain closed until at least the middle of 2008.

Located in the heart of Waterfall Country, near Ystradfellte, Sgwd yr Eira waterfall was closed in May 2007 when it was found that some overhanging rocks pose a potential danger to visitors.

Talks and investigations are ongoing between the National Park Authority,  Forestry Commission Wales and the Countryside Council for Wales to enable this Special Area of Conservation to be protected and conserved whilst enabling public access, but until the site is deemed safe, the footpath leading to the waterfall and the fall itself will remain fenced off in the interests of visitor safety.

Work on the rock face is unlikely to take place for the forseeable future. To read more follow this link to the Forestry Commission of Wales http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-7B3KZ7. (NB this will take you to another website).
