Guided Walk: The Old Quarries of Penwyllt
LENGTH: 8m / 13km
MEET: Craig-y-nos Country Park, (car park charges apply).
Penwyllt once had a thriving but isolated community with its own inn, local stores and railway station. The locals were dependent on the area’s natural deposits of limestone for their livelihood and the quarries left behind bear testament to this. You can find out more about Penwyllt’s fascinating geology and past by joining National Park staff and Dr. Geraint Owen, Lecturer of Geology at Swansea University on this walk up to the old quarries. Suitable for adults only. Bring packed lunch.

MEET: Abergavenny Tourist Information Centre (SO 301 139) car park charges apply. Travel sustainably by local bus to Crickhowell (bus fare required) to ascend the Sugar Loaf, taking in the superb scenery, geology and industrial archaeology of the area as you walk back to Abergavenny. This beautiful walk through woodland and farmland is set around Gwynfe in the west of the Geopark and National Park. Join Warden, Wyn Morgan to learn more about the work of the National Park and improve your health at the same time! This walk involves some ascent but it will be taken at an easy pace to suit the group. Suitable for families.

Follow the Taff Trail to a stunning National Nature Reserve, returning by Craig y Fro. Bring packed lunch.

Guided Walk: Brecon Beacons Circuit
LENGTH: 10m / 16km
MEET: Storey Arms car park on the A470, 8 miles south of Brecon (SN 982 203). Take in all the ‘high points’ of the Beacons on this walk over the tops of Corn Du and Pen y Fan, taking in the Tommy Jones Obelisk,
the Upper Neuadd Reservoir and Graig Fan Ddu and learn a little about the glacial formations and local history along the way. Bring packed lunch.
