Join experts from Swansea University on a walk with National Park Wardens looking at this important wetland wildlife habitat whose peat deposits contain a valuable record of the climate of south Wales since the last Ice Age. Designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), it is perhaps the best example in Wales for its combination of raised bog and base-rich, sedge-dominated fen communities. The Traeth is well known for its good populations of a range of dragonflies and damselflies, including the scarce blue-tailed damselfly (Ischnuria pumilio) and the now rare small pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly which is also recorded here each year, as are a range of migrant and resident breeding birds. Cost: £5 per person. No dogs please.
