The Visitor Centre grounds are an ideal location from which to see the stars. Come and join in the fun at this special event and see what you can spot in the night sky. Cost: £4.00 per adult, including car parking, hot soup and a roll and £2.50 per child (under 16’s) including hot soup and a roll. Family ticket £12.00 (2 adults and up to 3 children). Advance booking essential. This event will go ahead even in poor weather- we have indoor alternatives if we can’t see the real thing!

Children's book workshop - Granny Sarah and the Last Red Kite

This beautifully illustrated book tells a story about Wales’s wildlife icon, the Red Kite. Celebrating a conservation success, linking old and young and the idea of handing on both a well loved story and a shared responsibility for the future, this book makes a fundamental contribution to children's personal, social and cultural education. During this fun workshop, the children will be able to listen to the story and get involved in art related activities. Weather permitting, the story will be told outside to tie it in with the landscape around them and there may be a Red Kite or two above! Suitable for children aged 5 to 8 years old. 7 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Children's book workshop – The Lady of the lake
VENUE: National Park Visitor Centre, Libanus. Car parking charges apply.
High up in a hollow of the Black Mountain is a glacial lake called Llyn y Fan Fach. In a farm not far from this lake there once lived a widow, with an only son whose name was Gwyn. When he grew up, he was often sent to look after their grazing cattle. The place where the sweetest food was to be found was near the lake, and it was here that the mild-eyed beasts wandered. One day when Gwyn was walking along the banks of the lake, he was astonished to see a lady standing in the clear, smooth water, some distance from the land. She was the most beautiful creature that he had ever set eyes upon, and he stood on the brink, gazing fixedly at the maiden, and knew that he loved her…..
During this fun workshop the group will meet Lady of the Lake author, Margaret Isaac, hear extracts of the story and get involved in creative writing of their own. Suitable for ages 8 – 12 years old. Cost: £2.50 per person. No dogs please.

The Festival Players Theatre Company returns to the Visitor Centre (Mountain Centre) in this production of Shakespeare’s dark and dazzling comedy. Come along & enjoy a summer’s evening of pastoral pleasures, live music and sheer delight. This is an outdoor production, so please bring your own seating & picnic. The performance will go ahead in all weathers, unless safety is compromised.

WILD NIGHT OUT - CAMPING AT CRAIG-Y-NOS COUNTRY PARK
VENUE: Craig-y-nos Country Park (car park charges apply).
There will be plenty of activities for children and adults to do in the evening, such as a Bat walk, an Earth walk, tree identification, making a fire, cooking sausages and potatoes, singing and telling stories around the fire. You can bring your tents beforehand to pitch them up.
Cost: £30 per family all inclusive. It is essential to book at least a month in advance. Please clear up your own litter and only bring camp stoves. Tents and equipment need to be packed away by 9.30 the next morning. Children under 18 must be accompanied by adults. No dogs please. There will be a talk and a look at the stars through telescopes. If weather conditions aren’t clear a talk on the planets and history of the telescope will be given with an opportunity to look at some of NASA’s photographic images of the planets. No dogs please.
