Sychryd All Ability Trail

This linear, 400 metre long, level route winds its way through the narrow wooded gorge carved by the Afon Sychryd at Pontneddfechan. With the river on one side and a rock face towering above on the other it makes for a spectacular short walk. The full route to the waterfall is currently blocked due to a landslide.

More information

The route is mainly compacted stone-dust with some short stretches of compacted earth, which can get muddy after long spells of rain. There is a short ramp leading up to the main path from the car park. This route is also close to the Powder Trail (also known as the Gunpowder Works).

For more details please contact the Forestry Commission on 0845 604 0845 or visit the Dinas Rock recreation information page.

Brief Location

The site is next to the Dinas Rock car park at Pontneddfechan (location map). Pontneddfechan is located at the northern end of the Vale of Neath. At the traffic lights on the A4109/B4242 crossroads in Glynneath follow the signs on the B4242 for Pontneddfechan. Once in the village the road forks next the Craig-y-Dinas pub - take the road directly in front of you and not the road heading up the hill. The starting point for the walk is about 1/2 mile from the pub.
