Llangors Lake & Common
The flat, grassy common alongside Llangorse Lake has good views of the surrounding hills and the central Brecon Beacons.

This is a popular spot for picnics and is also grazed by horses, sheep and sometimes cattle. Llangorse Lake is the largest natural lake in the southern half of Wales and is home to a 9th Century artificial island, known as the Crannog. The replica Crannog nearby has a small accessible visitor centre in the style of a thatched, round house. Permits for water sports including sailing, rowing and canoeing are available from the Lakeside Shop. There are tarmac and hard surfaced paths leading over the common and to the edge of the lake.
How to get there: Llangorse Lake is signposted on the B4560 halfway between Talgarth and Bwlch and from the A40 1.5km east of Brecon.

Distance: From short strolls to as far as you want.
Facilities: There is café and shop by the side of the road on the common with a National Park village information point.
Parking: There is a mixture of tarmac, stone dust car parks or roadside parking.
Toilets: Toilets, including disabled access, are close to the road leading to the lake.
