Llanfoist - Govilon Line
This is an easy-going and popular walking and cycling route, along a very gently sloping former railway line. The banks alongside the line are home to many species of trees, wildflowers and ferns.

The route changes from raised embankment to railway cuttings, crossing several bridges with fantastic views of the local countryside. The initial 5km mile stage from Llanfoist to just south–west of Gilwern is surfaced with tarmac. Information boards can be found along the route. Mobility scooters can be hired from Abergavenny Shopmobility - call 0800 298 3656 for details. Once completed the full route should run for 12km between Llanfoist and Brynmawr.
How to get there: The route starts on the western outskirts of Llanfoist with the car park situated immediately on the left from the village hall turn off and runs parallel to the A465 Heads of the Valleys road and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. You can also join the route at Govilon Wharf and through Govilon village to a car park situated on the side of the road. Access to the route from either car park is through a large kissing gate.

Facilities: Shops and pubs can be found off the main route in Govilon and Gilwern. A bus service stops at Llanfoist and Govilon.
Parking: The small car parks at Llanfoist and Govilon have stone-dust surfaces.
Toilets: The nearest disabled access toilets are at Abergavenny or Crickhowell.
