Clydach Ironworks
This historically important ironworks site consists of excavated and semi-restored ruins of a blast furnace. At the lower end of the Clydach Gorge, this designated Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) can be closely viewed from behind a safety fence.
Further information
The ruins are a 400m walk from the car park entrance at the Clydach Picnic site; the route is signposted along the tarmac road, across a stone bridge, along a stone dust road and then across an iron bridge. A picnic and barbecue area is alongside parking area.

Location
Along with the Clydach Picnic Site the nearby Ironworks is situated between Gilwern and Brynmawr. Take turning signed “Clydach” from the A465 (location map).
Grid Reference: SO 230 133 (Ordnance Survey Explorer Map 13 or Landranger Map 161).
Toilets: The nearest public toilets are at Gilwern and the closest disabled access toilets (RADAR) are in Brynmawr.
Parking: There are 4 spaces on a level tarmac lay-by, with further 10 spaces on the main compacted gravel car park, next to the picnic site (location map).
Facilities: There are no facilities at this site. The nearest facilities are in Gilwern.
