Sustainable Transport

Transport is probably the biggest environmental impact of the National Park. Not only our own transport, getting around and managing the landscape, but also those of businesses and visitors. We are committed to finding ways to reduce these impacts.

The National Park Authority is undertaking 3 main actions to improve the sustainability of visitor tranpsort:

  • Organising Beacons Bus with a consortium of 14 local authorities and other public sector partners - the report for 2007 is available here: Beacons Bus Report 2007 .
  • Setting up a Visitor Transport Initiative project - the project description is available here: Visitor Transport Project
  • Leading a Visitor Transport Partnership of 28 public and private bodies

In 2005 a report was produced for the Three National Parks in Wales funded by CCW which indicated the key priorities for the development of Visito Transport in these areas.  This has guided the development of our thinking and our work since.  The report is available here: Sustainable Transport Report 2005
