Cllr Lyn Elias has extensive experience of local government, having served on Brynmawr Town Council for 23 years, where he is currently serving as Mayor. He has a strong interest in education, having been a governor of Brynmawr School for 20 years, the last five as Chairman. He is involved in many local organisations, many of them voluntary, and has a keen interest also in economic regeneration. Cllr Elias was first appointed to the National Park Authority in December 2007, and reappointed by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council in June 2008
