Helen had a career for 30 years as Head of Music in two secondary schools in Carmarthen before deciding to develop her other interests. She is a director of Cwmni Mega Drama Company which performs all over Wales, and Musical Director of Carmarthen Amateur Opera Company, producing shows for the last 12 years. She has done youth community work with Urdd Gobaith Cymru, and was chair of the Music Committee for the Eisteddfod yr Urdd Sir Gâr in 2007. Helen was elected to Carmarthenshire County Council in May 2008 and then to the National Park Authority.
