Your introduction to 1APP, the biggest change to the planning system in years
The Standard Planning Application Form (1APP) will help streamline the planning application process by replacing all the current planning application forms with 1 form for all applications
1APP was introduced by Communities and Local Government and the Welsh Assembly Government to replace all existing types of planning application forms (except minerals) within England and Wales.
Previously, Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) such as the Brecon Beacons NPA, produced their own planning application forms, which often differed from one another and were inconsistent in the information they asked for from applicants.
1APP removes the differences in application forms by ensuring the same information is requested for comparable applications by every LPA in England and Wales. This standardisation helps make the planning system clearer and more efficient for planning professionals and citizens alike.
The new form is the only legal way to apply for planning permission (except minerals) in Wales from 1 October 2008 onwards.
The Brecon Beacons NPA is an early adopter of 1APP (equal 3rd out of 25 authorities in Wales). This allows applicants and agents a period of overlap where both the old forms and 1APP are accepted. As of 1 July 2008 anyone making a planning application to the NPA can do so via the online 1APP process at www.planningportal.gov.uk/apply saving money and reducing application processing time.
Please note that if you apply online it will be assumed that you would prefer to be contacted by email rather than post unless you inform us otherwise.
