White clawed Crayfish

The clawed crayfish is the only crayfish native to the UK. It is protected by the 1981 Wildlife & Countryside Act (as amended) and EC Habitats Regulations.

White clawed crayfish could be affected by developed on or near river banks.  A Habitats Regulations licence may be required for works affecting this species.
