Walkers on the Beacons

Walking

One of the best ways to enjoy the Geopark is to explore it on foot. There is a good path network throughout most of the area and virtually all of the higher ground is open country to which there is public access.

A series of Geotrails is being published.  Each of the two dozen leaflets will look at a different landscape and introduce visitors to the geology and heritage of various corners of the Geopark.  The first of these were published in September 2008 and the others will follow over the next 6 months.  Keep an eye out for them!

In addition waymarked routes such as the Beacons Way provide the serious walker with a chance to sample much of the Geopark’s most stunning scenery.

Take a look too at  some of the geology walks leaflets that you can download from the South Wales Geologists' Association website.
