A national nature reserve managed by the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) for its glacial landforms – cliffs, moraines and landslips – and its mountain flora and fauna.
OS grid ref SN 965221 (centre of site)
This mountain-side is prominent in views up Glyn Tarell. It is a comparatively easy walk from the road into the cwm below the main cliffs from which point the atmosphere of the place can be savoured. Rocks of the Brownstones Formation of the Old Red Sandstone form impressive vegetated cliffs below which are the equally impressive moraines and landslip deposits which are a legacy of the last Ice Age. A network of paths here and up onto nearby Fan Frynych provide for several walk options.
