VISIT THE BRECON BEACONS NATIONAL PARK VISITOR CENTRE AND MYNYDD ILLTYD
The National Park Visitor Centre or ‘Mountain Centre’ is located 7km south west of Brecon and is one of the most popular visitor attractions in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Centre stands 1100ft (330m) above sea level and offers stunning views of the highest mountains (Pen y Fan and Corn Du) in South Wales.
Throughout the year the centre hosts activities for example star gazing - details on our events pages. Other facilities include the popular tearooms serving local produce and home cooked food, and easy access toilet facilities. Outside, families and children can enjoy the large grassed area in front of the building for picnics or to play games.

An hour and a half circular route across Mynydd Illtyd
For mountain biking there are two marked routes to choose from; the easy family Visitor Centre Route or the more challenging Mynydd Illtyd route, both of which can be found on our mountain biking pages
Bikes can be hired locally (Brecon) and can even be delivered to the Centre - see adverts at the bottom of this page for details.
Sample Itinerary
10.00 am Arrive at National Park Visitor Centre and explore Centre and grounds.
11.15 am Refreshments in the tearooms.
11.30 am Enjoy a walk or take a bike trail from Mynydd Illtyd Common.
1.00 pm Return to Centre for lunch.
2.00 pm Depart for home or continue to Brecon for exploration of the town, a canal
walk or a visit to the Cathedral.
