Bannau Brycheiniog is a great place to get active. This is not a fenced-off preserve – it’s a living, working landscape which will bring out your adventurous side.

There are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, horse riders and wildlife-watchers. 1. Horse-back adventures

The Brecon Beacons is the perfect place for horse lovers. We have over 600 miles of bridle paths and tracks. Our spectacular scenery and wealth of wildlife create some of the best riding in Europe.  We are close to excellent road and rail links, yet a world away from the bustle of urban life. The only delays here are for leisurely pub lunches while your mount grazes outside.

We have thousands of acres of hills, moors and fields, criss-crossed by ancient tracks and lanes. You can ride all day, sharing the views with the soaring buzzards.

 2. Go Fishing

The Brecon Beacons offers some fantastic game and course fishing throughout its many rivers, lakes, reservoirs and canals.   Record-breaking grayling on the Wye, some of the finest brown trout fishing in the country on the Usk and a sprinkling of well-stocked reservoirs and lakes make fishing one of the most popular outdoor activities in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Our Park offers excellent coarse fishing or game fishing in rivers, canals, lakes and reservoirs. We also have a great selection of country hotels that offer a special welcome to outdoor sportsmen.

3. Explore the National Park on a bike

Speed down thrilling hillside tracks through moorlands and woodland, with some of the very best terrain; this national park has it all from fast descents to gentle off road trails.  Find out more here. 

4. Take to our skies

For the licensed gliders to those who want to up the heart rate – the beacons are a favourite for soaring over rolling green landscapes.There are five regional clubs in the area who welcome novices and experienced gliders!

Our grassy fields and hilltops serve as excellent take-off and landing sites for paragliders, hang gliders. Some pilots make cross-country flights exceeding 300 miles and fly up to 4 miles high! This is also a favourite region for soaring over the rolling, green landscape in a glider.

5. Gaze into our Dark Sky

6. Explore our waters

The Brecon Beacons National Park offers an awesome range of options for paddlesports, from the tranquillity of canals and reservoirs to extreme kayaking over jaw-dropping waterfalls
